Dysrhythmia Interp. and Treatment Considerations

This 24hr course is designed for the RN/ LVN transitioning to a more acute care Dept. such as the ER/ ICU.  Using a multiple day format the instructor hopes to provide a clear understanding of the flow of blood through the heart (Anatomy), mechanisms involved in generating an action potential (Pacemaker cells) and lastly interpretation of Rhythms including differentiating ectopic beats from arrhythmias, basic Intro to 12L including MI localization.  Treatment considerations will be discussed including an overview of the ACLS guidelines set forth by AHA. 

This course is highly recommended for individuals as a Pre-ACLS provider course and options to test for an actual ACLS card may be arranged with us after successful completion of the course. 

Who should take this course: RN new grads/Students, RN, LVN, RT, Paramedic Prep, Paramedics wanting to refresh, EMT/ER Techs and lastly Monitor Techs (background in Bio and Pharmacology necessary for Monitor Tech’s). 

Course Book:  Barbara Aehlerts, ECG’s made Easy 5th edition.  Elsevier Publishers, 

ISBN-10: 0323101062.  Older editions such as the fourth is acceptable. 

Recommendations:  Homework (highly recommended) using the course book, including obtaining rhythm strips for study, upon course completion an 80 question test will be administered with an 85% needed for a passing grade.
