Unit Secretary Course

This course will be completed in 6 sessions

Would you like the opportunity to enter the healthcare field with NO PRIOR healthcare education? This course were offering is for individuals just like you! A Unit Secretary also known as a "Unit Clerk" is utilized in a healthcare setting in hospitals and is a perfect entry level position.

The Unit Secretary or "Unit clerk" will learn how to perform specific skills during the course that will allow them to submit an application to hospitals for employment upon successful completion. Students attending the course will learn the following skills to become a Unit Secretary.

  1. Medical Terminology
  2. How to correctly enter patient information.
  3. How to fill out physician orders.
  4. Customer relations with patients, staff and visitors.
  5. Transcription 

After the course is successfully completed by students they will receive a Certificate of Completion stating they attended our 24 hours of education in Unit Secretary skills. The Certificate of Completion will be issued to participants on the last night of the course.

Students must attend all classes in order to successfully pass the course. If a student misses any of the scheduled classes they will not be able to receive the Certificate of Completion.

Please be aware in order to work in a hospital setting an individual is REQUIRED to hold a current BLS card (CPR). All hospitals will ask you for this certification in order to fulfill requirements for hire. If you are in need of the BLS course please see our "Course Calendar" and look for the event in blue.
